Course has been in existence since 1909 and the Dudley Cup was staged at this venue between 1951 and 1969.

A flat galloping course of about 3 1/4 miles it has two long straights. The runners start in a small chute at the entrance to the back straight with Upton church as a backdrop. They then meet a line of five fences spaced at regular intervals before turning right handed and straighten up for fence six (open ditch).

The course then turns right-handed and straightens out for fences seven and eight, before the field races past the finishing post to meet fence ten at the end of the home straight.

Almost immediately after this fence, the runners turn sharply right-handed and race towards fence ten and right-handed again to go out on their second circuit.

The 2 mile 5 furlong start is situated between fences four and five.

Long run in from last fence has changed the course of many races in the past.
