Andoversford Races to be launch venue for first 100% provenance food hall
Foodie heaven is coming to Gloucestershire at Andoversford Races on April 8th and 15th. Visitors to the races will have the chance to eat and drink the very best in food and drink knowing exactly where it’s from, chatting with the producers who grow and make it and trying tasty mouthfuls. Join Adam Henson at 10.a.m. for a very special morning celebrating the first Happerley Food Heaven. Happerley is a food provenance organisation and every single mouthful for sale in its Food Heaven will have been verified and checked. If it says it’s made in Gloucestershire, from ingredients grown or reared in the county, you can trust that it has. The Happerley logo is the sign of validation and verification, from start to finish.
Matt Rymer is the founder of Happerley and a Gloucestershire farmer himself: “We are all so excited that we can now deliver a fully authentic food experience to consumers. For so long people have been sold down the river by clever marketing and disingenuous labelling and brands. Shoppers haven’t known whether the Gloucester cheese in their basket really is an authentic, local product, made from the best local ingredients or from someone based in the county shipping cheap ingredients in from all over the place. We’re a global organisation but it only seemed right that we launched our Food Heaven here in our home county, where Happerley has its HQ.”
Food Heaven at Andoversford is supported by the Midcounties Co-op, Best of Our Counties Range which has been piloting the scheme. Phil Ponsonby, CEO for Trading: “Transparency is very much a Co-op mantra and Food Heaven gives visitors just that; a clear, verified view of what’s in their food and their drink and where it’s from. It’s also a celebration of wonderful local produce and I’m really looking forward to this very first outing.”
Visitors to Andoversford will be able to meet Adam Henson, and enjoy drinks and nibbles while filling baskets with simply the finest local ingredients, foods and drinks to take home. During the day there will be demonstrations, tastings, ideas of how to make the most of spring produce and of course, the all-important back story of where the food is from. Info designed especially for children to enjoy will also be on hand. Dogs aren’t forgotten either, with a handy dog creche just outside the Food Heaven Pavillion.
‘I’ve been to Happerley Food Heaven’ hessian bags will be available and all exhibitors are being encouraged to minimise packaging.
Peter McNeile is responsible for the running of Andoversford Races and a huge supporter of food provenance “Happerley Food Heaven is the right fit for Andoversford Races, we want families to have a superb day out and showcasing this amazing variety of local fare can only add to their enjoyment. Horses and fabulous food- that’s certainly my idea of heaven.”
