The Point-to-Point Authority announce title sponsors for National Awards

The Point-to-Point Authority (PPA) are delighted to announce an exciting partnership with Tattersalls Ascot & Cheltenham Sales as title sponsor of the National Point-to-Point Awards.
The eleven categories that combine to make the national awards will now be known as The Tattersalls National Point-to-Point Championships. The prestigious ceremony held each November to crown the previous seasons champions will be known as The Tattersalls National Point-to-Point Awards Dinner & Dance.

All awards will continue to have individual sponsors, the PPA are grateful for continued support from the The Jockey Club, Skinner’s Pet Foods, Fuller’s, Foran Equine and Connolly’s RED MILLS.  To complement Tattersalls title sponsorship, Tattersalls Ascot & Cheltenham will also sponsor the Leading Point-to-Point Owner, won last season by David Brace.

Ascot and Cheltenham Sales are well known to the point-to-point fraternity, and the recent acquisition in 2015 by Tattersalls – Europe Leading Bloodstock Auctioneers – has seen both venues make progressive strides in the quality of horses offered.
The famous Berkshire venue of Ascot has, since 1947, been a consistent source of horses sold to race between the flags. The sales are rich in the history of UK pointing and over the past seventy-two years have witnessed many champions pass through its ring and welcomed generations of point to point trainers and owners.
The demand for high class young NH prospects that have shown their ability in point-to-points has seen an increase of trainers and owners in the UK specialising in this market.  The Tattersalls Cheltenham Sales have built a reputation as the leading auction house to sell young prospects with form. The last twelve months has seen record breaking prices at Cheltenham for UK point-to-pointers of up to £220,000 for Tom Lacey’s Interconnected and at the recent February Sale, with Garry Clermont realising £150,000 for Fran Nimmo and Charlie Poste.
Richard Pugh Director of Horses in Training Sales commented “We are delighted to be the official Title sponsor of the prestigious National Awards Dinner and Dance. It is a special evening which highlights the very best of point to pointing in England, Scotland and Wales throughout the season. It is a perfect fit to thank our vendors and buyers for their continued support at both Tattersalls Ascot and Cheltenham Sales.”
