NEXT MEETING – LUDLOW Saturday 2nd April, 2022. First Race – 2 p.m.
The course is a left handed, galloping track. generally flat but with a gradual uphill finish, where the superb birch fences, are built by renowned fence builder Jim Squires. Excellent viewing from banks adjacent to finishing straight.
The start is situated behind a copse of trees which is out of view of the public but when the appear they have a short gallop to the first fence, which is quickly followed by the 2nd, which is the final fence at the end of another two circuits. They race slightly uphill, pasted the crowd and the judge and take a fence (3) which is just before the bend into the back straight.
The runners then gallop downhill to fence 4, which has caused problems in the past, race alongside Bitterley Brook before turning left handed to face fence 5. They then have a straight gallop to negotiate fences 6 and 7.
They meet a left handed turn into the home straight, where lengths can be saved with an inside run before they face fence 8, pass the start and go out onto their final circuit.
Good viewing from the bank overlooking the final two fences and from the old railway embankment by fence 3.
